MALDEN, MA – The Mystics made too many mistakes this Saturday in their match against Old Blue and fell to 2-5 for the season after a disappointing 5-39 loss. The Mystics really struggled in the scrums, losing a number of balls against the head, and the backs lacked penetration, making it very difficult to build a platform to attack from.

Mystics Fall to Old Blue in the Dying Moments
NEW YORK, NY – The Mystics took the long drive to Randall’s Island, NY knowing that they were considered the underdogs after Old Blue’s convincing 50-10 win at the Boston Irish Wolfhounds during the opening week of league play… it’s a feeling that the team seems to relish these days.
NRU Playoffs: Mystics Take 2nd Place in NRU
NEW YORK, NY – In the final day of the D1 NRU Championship series, Mystic River fell to Old Blue in the Finals. With Old Blue holding onto a comfortable lead at halftime, the Mystics would not go down quietly as Adnan Kawuma and Joe Shurmaitis narrowed the margin for a final score of 33-15.
The Mystics finished second in the Northeast with an overall record of 8-2 and have secured home field advantage this Spring against the MARFU #3 seed (TBD).
Playoffs: Mystics Fall to Old Blue 21-0
NEWPORT, RI – As the fog rolled in off Narragansett Bay, the Mystic River Rugby Club took on METNY’s top seeded Old Blue RFC in round one of the NRU playoff seeding tournament.
However, it was a much different New York side than the Mystics faced in last year’s tournament where the Mystics sailed to an easy 61-3 victory.
This time around. Old Blue was ready, scoring three converted and blanking the Mystics 21-nil. A shutout win by NERFU rival, the Boston Irish Wolfhounds, will have the Mystics going head to head against New Haven to battle for third place in the NRU.
