A Muddy Win for the Mystics
NEW HAVEN, CT – The Mystics managed to put together some decent rugby in the second half to pull away from New Haven in muddy conditions. The first half saw the Mystics open the scoring with two unconverted tries from Rob Howes, but New Haven got some momentum from two tries of their own to take a 12-10 lead into half time. The New Haven lead could have been larger, but the referee was unsighted for a maul where it looked like New Haven might have gotten over the line, and New Haven received a scrum rather than a try.
Mystic River Open Season with Win
NEW HAVEN – Mystic River Rugby Club started the fall NERFU season with a big win on the road against last year’s Sweet 16 colleagues New Haven Old Black. The Mystics came out of the gate strong to take a commanding 27-0 halftime lead. The Mystics defense let up slightly in the second half, but the offense added another 3 tries for a 46-19 win.
Mystics Open Spring Season
PINE BANKS – Mystic River opened their Spring Season against New Haven in a rematch of last fall’s playoff game. In that match up, New Haven topped the Mystics 23-12. This time, the two clubs fought to a 19-19 stale mate at the final whistle.
