PITTSBURGH, PA – We are thrilled to announce that the Mystics are the D1 East Champions and will be playing in the D1 National Championships for the first time since 1992! The boys showed huge grit and determination in Pittsburgh this weekend as they claimed muddy, hard-fought victories against Metropolis and Old Blue. We will be sharing more details about the Championship match in due course, but we already know that we will be playing last year’s losing finalist, the Austin Blacks, in Glendale, CO on June 4.

Mystics ready for Metropolis in Elite 8
The Mystics are eager to make their return to the D1 Elite 8 against Metropolis at 5pm this Saturday in Pittsburgh, PA. The last time the two teams faced off was in the 2012 Elite 8 in Pittsburgh, where Metropolis moved on to the Final Four, so the Mystics are especially keen to avenge that loss this Saturday!
Mystics Falter in Elite 8
For the 3rd straight season, Mystic River Rugby Club earned a spot in the top eight DI teams in the country. This year, they defeated the Atlanta Renegades in dramatic fashion. After trailing 0-10 early on, the Mystics fought back to take a 12-10 lead behind the boot of flyhalf Paul Penman’s four penalty kicks. Atlanta answered back with two kicks of the own to retake the lead 12-16 with no time remaining. On the last play of the game, winger Nate Fox was able to storm down the sidelines shedding tackles for an emphatic try for the Mystic win 17-16!
