Mystics Storm the Jersey Shore

SEA GIRT, NJ – The Mystics returned from the Jersey Shore Rugby Tournament with the hardware after an absolutely dominant performance. Letting up only 8 points on the day and scoring over 100, the Mystics displayed the tough, explosive rugby we’ve become accustomed to in NERFU. Hooker Chris Petrigno took home “Man of the Tournament” honors as he led the boys in blue by example in the grit of the tight-game all day. Winger Adnan Kawuma also had a breakthrough performance scoring 5 tries on the day, including the crucial ice-breaker in the all important final.

Mystics Win New England 10s

ACTON, MA – For the second year in a row, Mystic River Rugby Club are NE 10s Champions. The Mystics again dominated the competition, letting up only two tries scored against them on the day. In the final, the Mystics defeated the Boston Irish Wolf-hounds 14-7 to defend their championship.

Mystics Take 4th at Springfield 7s

SPRINGFIELD, MA – Mystic River took it up a notch from last year and entered the Qualifier bracket at this year’s Springfield 7s Tourney. Falling to Boston in the first match 12-7, the Mystics were able to bounce back to deafeat NYAC 26-14 and move on to face Long Island in the Semi Final round, with the New York club edging past the Mystics 17-10 to move on to the final. Mystic River placed 4th.

In the Open Division, the self proclaimed “Mystic Exiles” showed a vast improvement from the week prior, going 2-2 on the day. With 20+ years of age between the youngest rookie and the oldest grizzled veteran, the Mystics finished the day strong with a 29-0 “pay back” win over Worcester for 5th place.

Worcester 7s Results

WORCESTER, MA – In the first 7s outing of the summer, the Mystics fared well beating Worcester, Providence and the Wolfhounds to face Boston RFC in the tournament final. Boston edged out a win 7-14 in what should be a tennis match for the rest of the summer. Congrats to Boston on the win, but the Mystics aren’t satisfied with 2nd place.
