Mystics Blank ‘Hounds For Win No. 5

PINE BANKS – As the battle for the top teams in New England intensifies, the Mystics showed no quarter as they put away the Boston Irish Wolfhounds (1-4) with a decisive victory in Malden. Constant, hammering pressure from forwards and backs kept the ‘Hounds on their heels and the Mystics found themselves up 17-0 at the half. The second half proved no different as the Mystics kept up their relentlessness on both sides of the ball, totally shutting down the opposition and touching down another five unanswered tries to secure another win. Bouncing back from last week’s nail-biting loss, the Mystic 2nd XV were able to edge past a hungry Wolfhound side.

Mystic Winning Streak Continues

NEW HAVEN, CT – Week four of the 2007 Fall season found the undefeated Mystic River team traveling to Connecticut to face the 2006 NERFU D1 Champions, New Haven. Defense played a key role for both sides as they battled up and down the pitch, keeping the score at 3-0 in Old Black’s favor at the half. The second half proved to be much the same as both teams struggled to break through the opposition, until a Mystic offensive charge was able to penetrate for two unanswered Mystic tries and win number four.

Next, the Mystic Second XV’s took the field in a match that pitted together two undefeated second sides. It proved to be another grueling, tooth and nail battle, with neither side giving an inch without a fight. With only 15 minutes to play, the slight Mystic lead was broken by two unanswered tries, giving New Haven the win.

3rd Straight Win for Mystics

MANCHESTER, NH – Despite being down 14-10 at half time, the Mystics were able to keep the ball close and drive at the line repeatedly in the second half. Amoskeag’s defense held up well but eventually the Mystics were able to score. The Mystics finally took the lead 25-22 with six minutes left to play. Mystic winger Adnan Kawuma scored a 50 meter break away try off of a loose ball on the final play of the match to pad the final score and collect the bonus point.

Later that day, the Mystic 2nd XV also extended their own winning streak to three. Constant pressure shattered Amoskeag’s defenses, producing multiple tries for the young and blood-thirsty Mystic side. In their last three matches, the B’s have dominated their opponents outscoring them 124-15.

Mystic River Rolls Over Worcester

WORCESTER, MA – Mystic River moved to 2-0 in New England’s DI league with a 26-7 victory over Worcester. Carrick Pell scored two tries in the game and Jake Sprague and Peter Waswa added touchdowns as Mystic earned their second-straight bonus-point win.

Equally impressive was the Mystic B’s as they scored early and often, blanking Worcester to earn a second-straight win of their own.
