It was mostly the weekend of the New Yorkers as three out of the four winners in the Northeast DI club quarterfinals this weekend were from the MetNY RFU. Long Island defeated Amoskeag 28-15, Old Blue eked by Albany 7-6, and White Plains hit Worcester hard 46-11. The only New England team to win Saturday was Mystic River, which downed New York Manhattan 25-3. “All wins are good, but this one meant a lot to the club, both players and supporters alike” said Mystic captain Pat Doherty. The win means Mystic is back in the CR4 playoffs.

Mystics Defeat NY Manhattan in Playoffs

PINE BANKS – The Mystics got off to a shaky start with sloppy play and found themselves down 0-3 early. However the boys were able to find their composure and drop 25 unanswered points for a convincing 25-3 win over MetNY’s NYM. Now the Mystics find themselves as the only NERFU team remaining and hope to represent their union well at the NRU seeding tournament Mar 29/30 in NY.

Mystic Defeat Boston

PINE BANKS – Mystic River Rugby Club opened up their preseason playoff campaign with a strong win over Boston RFC in soggy conditions under the lights at Pine Banks Park. Final 15-10.

Jake Sprague Named to U.S. Eagles Pool

Congratulations to our very own Jake Sprague who was named to the U.S. Eagles pool as a result of his performance at the National All-Star Championships in Orlando, FL.

Jake will be in a squad of players from which a U.S. team will be selected to play against an England Counties Team (two games) in June of 2008. All players will be monitored during the next five months and final selections made in May 2008.
