On 5/22/2021, Mystic River Rugby Club’s Premier side traveled to play the Houston Sabercats’ Academy Team, Rugby HTX. Mystic entered the match undefeated but knew they were facing a physical opponent.

Mystic River’s “Club Day” Filled with Victories & Good Vibes!
On Saturday, May 15th, Mystic River held its first full-day rugby event at Pine Banks Park since fall, 2019, and what a beautiful day it wound up being. Mystic River Youth Rugby started off the day bright and early with a fast & informative youth clinic. The kids had a great time, and it was a perfect way to commence “Club Day.” Two Mystic men’s matches were set to follow up the clinic, and a pitch-side barbecue was there to feed the traveling teams and the Mystic faithful!
Sad News of Mystic River Original Bobby Engel’s Passing & Funeral Details

We don’t need to revisit what happened during 2020, but we hope everyone and their families and friends have stayed healthy and safe during these strange and uncertain times. With that being said, the Mystic men are back at Pine Banks Park training under Massachusetts’ COVID-19 guidelines and to date, they faced off in the 1st Mystic River “Battle of the Families,” where “Team Lyons” and “Team Sullivan” battled it out in the club’s first live rugby since pre-pandemic, and then, this past Saturday, May 8th, Mystic sent two sides to Philadelphia as Schuylkill River hosted our Monsters of Malden for the first rugby match played against an opponent since November 2nd, 2019.
